Plugin Solar Calculator is a simple information and estimation website. We do not collect names, email addresses, account details or payment information, and we do not store the information you enter into the calculator.

Information you enter into the calculator

The calculator asks for information such as your postcode area, household size and usage habits so it can produce an estimate. This information is processed in your browser to generate your result. We do not store any calculator inputs, create user accounts or use calculator information to identify you.

Analytics cookies

We use Google Analytics to understand how people use the site, such as which pages are visited, how often the calculator is run and how the site is performing. Analytics cookies are optional and are only set if you accept them through the cookie banner.

If you reject analytics cookies or do not make a choice, Google Analytics runs with analytics storage denied. This may still send limited cookieless measurement signals to help us understand basic site usage without setting Google Analytics cookies on your device.

Local storage

We use your browser’s local storage to remember your cookie preference. This stops the cookie banner appearing every time you visit.

The calculator also uses local storage to remember the latest estimate inputs in your browser, so your result can be restored if you leave the page and come back. This information is not sent to us or stored in a user account.

Third-party services

Google Analytics may receive information about your visit, such as pages viewed, device and browser information, and approximate location based on your IP address. We configure Google Analytics with advertising storage, ad user data and ad personalisation denied by default.

We also use Vercel Web Analytics, which provides aggregated website usage information without using third-party cookies.

Google processes this information according to its own privacy terms.

Affiliate links

Some pages include affiliate links. These links may contain tracking information in the URL so the retailer or affiliate network can recognise that a visit came from this site. We do not set affiliate cookies on your device.

How long information is kept

Your cookie preference and latest calculator estimate remain stored in your browser unless you clear them, change your cookie settings where relevant or reset your browser data.

Analytics data is retained according to the settings in our Google Analytics account.
